Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. The EP was where she received recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued to post her songs online, including her independent single Bound. The 21st day of July, 2015, Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. In the following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. Then, in December of 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. On the 21st of October in 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. In 2018 she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. In November, she dropped two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole in her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In February of 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. The track has received over three million views on YouTube within the initial week. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
